2020 Les Freres Soulier KAYAK

A collaboration wine made between Les Frères Soulier and friend Valentin Vallès. They farmed the plot together and then split the harvest to produce two different wines. The wine is 100% Grenache and comes from a small 1ha plot on a hill surrounded by woods. A river runs by the plot, where there are many Kayakers during summer. Short maceration and aged in old barrels for just over a month, with a further two months in bottle before release.

Zero SO2.

Lightish red colour with dark trim. Super fragrant with big wild florals, bright red fruits, and a dark mineral core. It's clean, fresh and very unique. Walking over rocky terrain and smelling wild herbs and flowers.

Dark red delicious apple skin. Super expressive and very different – pleasing. Seamless and enjoyable to smell. Some bay perhaps, or similar. Feels very clear and open. To taste, there is tremendous energy plus a fragrant mouthfeel. Sweet fruit lingers. Flavour town. Tingly sensation with texture, big buzz energy. Medium acidity, rolling tannins and good tension. Not a session wine, but a delicious wine that you can have with another bottle and be satisfied for the night – like really satisfied, it's just so delicious! Bright red apple and cherry fruit crunch on the nose. Crunch on the palate too. Big fragrant mouth and super delicious. Charcoal notes on the back palate.

It walks the line between power and freshness but is still quite linear in its delivery—a very cool wine. Serve chilled.
